Whew!

Made it through the holidays! Hope everybody had a Merry Christmas and a WONDERFUL New Year!
Some how I ended up with a handful of days off, so I am much more rested now and ready to get back to work!
I have gardens on the brain and am looking at what I want to plant this year. Our yard is mostly shade so that limits us. I do want a huge variety of peppers. Hot and sweet. This is great for cooking, pico, and chili pepper powder. In the shade we can grow alot of onion, lettuce, spinach, beans and brussel sprouts! I plan to plug in a small rhubarb plant, most likely in a pot for mobility.
The last two to three weeks I have been buying up fresh produce, craving it! We have had a constant supply of yummy pico, so we have been having tacos, burritos, quasadillas, etc. Today I am making a Mexican Lasagna. very tasty.  It is a lot like Italian Lasagna but lighter, healthier and yummier! I use taco meat, pico in place of tomato sauce and asedaro cheese in place of mozzarella mix. VERY tasty!
If you would like to try it, it will be available for lunch on Wednesday for $5 served with homemade tortilla chips!

Hope to see you for lunch soon!

Dry mixes

Another new venture is soup mixes from dry ingredients. These will be a just add water and ready to eat or add your own fresh ingredients and pass of as your own! I plan to keep these affordable and would like to eventually mass produce them.

I am also working on spice mixes as well as drink mixes. So essentially, add this to vodka and water and you get a bloody mary! Fun stuff!
Or how about a rub for your cheaper side of beef roast to make it taste like prime rib. MMM

Cook books in the works

I am working on 6 different cook books to sell on Amazon. There will be:
Faust's Soup For Your Soul
Faust's Salad For Your SoulFaust's Sandwiches For Your Soul
Faust's Sides For Your Soul
Faust's Dinner For Your Soul
Faust's Breakfast For Your Soul and
Faust's Camp Food For Your Soul

Each book will have about 25 recipes and will include tips and hints. So that means no more freebie recipes on here :)

I plan to sell these for somewhere in the 2-3 dollar range. I hope to eventually compile a whole huge collection. I will keep you updated on the progress.

Hello Again

Well it has been an awfully long time since I posted. A lot has happened since then. My "soup" selling business has evolved. through the summer, I served salads on Mondays and sandwiches on Wednesdays. I have researched, tweaked and created multitudes of salads and sandwiches. I have served hot and cold, meat and no meat. I have worked on side salads to serve with sandwiches. I have been serving various "specials" on Tuesday nights such as quiche, stuffed peppers and the like.
With the fall here, I have brought back soups on Mondays and a different sandwich OR salad on Wednesday. I have kept to different specials on Tuesdays.
I have started making burritos for local football games, quite a masterpiece. I have started creating some small cookbooks to sell on Amazon. And now making soup mixes that you just add water. I have been focusing on potato soup and tomato soup. I am hitting craft shows to sell these and would like to eventually sell them online.

So a busy summer indeed, keep tuned in for more!

Chicken Cordon Blue Soup

3lbs Chicken Breast diced
1 white onion, diced
6 cloves fresh garlic, minced
2-3 Tblsp olive oil

3lbs swiss cheese, cut into small pieces
4-5 cups of whole milk

3 Tblsp Chicken Bouillon
6 cups water
2 1/2 pounds of ham pieces
3 cups of instant mashed potatoes

white pepper
parsley
basil
oregano

salt (if needed)

saute chicken, onion and garlic in olive oil, slowly. Dont mess with it too much, you dont want the chicken to get beady. make sure to cook off water
In a larger pot, slowly start melting cheese and milk. make sure to scrape bottom frequently so it does not scorch.

add bouillon and water to chicken stir on medium to be sure chicken is cooked through. add ham. when cheese is melted, there may be small bits left, this is a good thing. Add chicken with broth. stir well. Add spices to taste.

This made about 20 or so cups of soup

Soup On The Go

My latest endeavor is soup on the go. I have been making an instant potato soup that I would like to start marketing to local markets. I have tested the recipe on some friends and family (thank you) and all have said they like it and would buy it. Just add water.
Does this sound like something you would try? How much would you expect to pay for a one cup serving? With packaging costs I figure about a buck a serving to start. Possibly less if you buy in bulk.
